FAQ

Common questions

Which metadata is removed?

Because the browser creates a new JPEG from the decoded pixels, the original EXIF, XMP, IPTC and JPEG comment metadata are not copied into the output.

Is the image re-encoded?

Yes. The tool re-encodes the visible image at high JPEG quality so the metadata is not carried over. File size may therefore change.

Will camera orientation still look correct?

Modern browsers normally apply the source orientation while decoding the image, and the exported JPG stores the resulting visible orientation in its pixels.

Is my JPG uploaded to a server?

No. The JPG is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded by the tool.
